What a year this week has been!

The first week of January came at me with a barrage of challenges. There was I, metaphorical keto guns held high and ablaze and...in to the New Year I limp, my back still locked up and aching from its spasm a few days before. No Chloe Ting workouts or RingFit for me - just as many steps as comfortably possible without causing myself further damage. Previously I would have been so angry to start the year off without churning out perfect numbers on a daily basis but I managed to remain realistic and stay on track. On through the week I marched, (absolutely smashing my dietary goals may I add), when three days later...BAM! My daughter gets hit with a vomiting bug. Thus, routine is thrown out. Thirty-six hours later, the same bug brings me crashing to a screaming halt. Hours later, my husband too. (Not to mention both of my parents and my siblings in a different household.) It was the weekend from hell. All of it a feverish, sickly blur and yet...out of the ashes I rose, weak and dehydrated but keto guns still held aloft. By the time I opened my eyes and it was Monday again I found myself to be mostly recovered. Not entirely, but mostly.

My first weekly weigh in boasted an impressive seven pound (half a stone) loss. Fantastic! I am however taking this result with a very large pinch of Himalayan pink salt..ie: it isn't entirely accurate. I couldn't eat a thing for the entirety of Saturday and I ate a very small amount on Sunday. Obviously this is not standard practice for me. Ergo, by the time it's Monday again, I'm likely to see a couple of those pounds regained as my body rebalances itself and that is absolutely ok, healthy and natural. I'm super proud of myself for doing my best this week given the circumstances. A big NSV for one is that every day (except for the vomiting/recovery days) I drank 2 litres of sugar free squash!! This is HUGE for me as generally I won't drink 2 litres of any cold liquid across an entire WEEK as I just don't get thirsty. I generally just run on coffee and sarcasm.

I'm looking forward to another keto-tastic week which I'm hoping will include slightly less drama and slightly more movement. I hope you all reached your goals and are ready to smash week two! If you feel yourself wavering and notice your hand absent-mindedly dangling over the tub of Quality Street that still seems to be hanging around, just remember why you started. You've got this!
